Transfer Talk: Napoli eye new 'Kvaradona' deal amid Barca interest

The summer transfer window won’t reopen in Europe for a while yet, but there are plenty of moves in the works and gossip swirling around. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Barcelona tracking “Kvaradona”

Napoli are trying to renew Khvicha Kvaratskhelia‘s contract after Barcelona showed interest in signing the winger, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Kvaratskhelia’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli, has been in Naples since last weekend and is reportedly waiting on a call from club president Aurelio De Laurentiis to begin discussing the winger’s future. This comes with the 23-year-old already having a contract that runs until 2027 but wanting a salary that reflects the major increase in his status during his time with Gli Azzurri. The hope is that the situation will be sorted before he travels for a historic European Championship campaign with Georgia.

Even so, Kvaratskhelia’s entourage want €5 million per year, plus bonuses, and the outlet says De Laurentiis is unlikely to meet that figure. He could instead offer €4m plus potentially easily reachable bonuses that would take the winger to around €4.5m. Jugeli will also want assurances about Napoli’s situation as Kvaratskhelia wants to fulfil his ambitions and win trophies.

Barcelona have an interest in the 23-year-old — which could also be used in negotiations — although the Blaugrana don’t currently have the financial capacity to make a serious attempt to sign him as De Laurentiis would want between €120m and €130m for him.

Napoli have no intentions of losing Kvaratskhelia, especially as star striker Victor Osimhen is likely to depart this summer.
