The visitors have sent Australia into bat in Auckland.

There is also some very interesting team news, with Steve Smith (opener), Matt Wade and Nathan Ellis coming into the side. David Warner, Matt Short and Mitch Starc have dropped out of the XI.

We’ll try and find out whether that is rotation or form related.

Last match: Head, Warner, Marsh, Maxwell, Inglis, David, Short, Cummins, Starc, Zampa and Hazlewood.

Today’s game: Head, Smith, Marsh, Maxwell, Inglis, David, Wade, Cummins, Ellis, Zampa and Hazlewood.

New Zealand team: Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Will Young, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Josh Clarkson, Mitch Santner, Adam Milne, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult, Ben Sears.

In case you missed Tim David’s wonderful innings

Tim David produced a final-ball win for the ages, striking a boundary as Australia chased down New Zealand’s 3-215 for a six-wicket win in the first of three Twenty20 clashes.

Needing four to win, David thumped Tim Southee to the mid-wicket boundary as Australia won the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy opener in dramatic fashion in Wellington on Wednesday night.

Captain Mitch Marsh celebrated with David in the middle after his own superb knock, striking 72 off 44 to steer Australia within reach of the total.

David (31 off 10) then exploded, hitting 29 runs of the 32 required in nine balls by Australia.

The total of 4-216 is Australia’s third-best T20 chase, although they did set an unfortunate record in the process.
