Speaking after Sporting clinched on the Portuguese league title with two games to spare on Sunday, Amorim said: “I stay, I have a contract with Sporting. I dedicate it [league title] to all the Sporting fans. Now we will try to go for a third [domestic league crown since he took over].”

Amorim, 39, had previously said he could not guarantee that he would continue at Sporting next season.

At the helm of Sporting since March 2020, he has a contract with the Lisbon outfit until June 2026 with a €20 million ($21m) release clause set for foreign clubs.
