Darts villain Gerwyn Price has sensationally threatened to never play in the World Championships again after he crashed out of the quarter finals in an eventful match in which he sported a pair of ear defenders for one set.
Fans were left baffled when the polarising Welshman stepped onto the stage with the ear defenders, but it did little to help him as he lost 5-1 to Gabriel Clemens.

Clemens took an early lead by winning the first set, but Price immediately hit back to level things up in the second.
The German then returned serve by taking the next two sets to hold a 3-1 lead going into the fifth set, with five required for victory and a spot in the semi finals.
However, with the noise inside the Alexandra Palace at an all-time high, Price re-emerged for the fifth set with a pair of ear defenders on in an attempt to drown out the crowd.
It was a move that left viewers at home scratching their heads in befuddlement.
As for the patrons inside the ‘Ally Pally’ they responded to Price’s new look by chanting, “What the f***ing hell is that?”

Price had hinted earlier in the tournament that he might wear a pair if he was “up against it with the crowd”, so perhaps the move shouldn’t have come as a surprise.
He even gestured towards the crowd with his hands cupped to his ear defenders at one stage during the fifth set.
However, Price went on to lose the fifth set and subsequently the ear defenders, although he popped in a set of ear plugs for the sixth set.
It did little to stop Clemens from marching on as the German secured a 5-1 victory.
Almost immediately after the defeat, Price took to social media to drop the bombshell he might not grace the stage at the ‘Ally Pally’ ever again due to the crowd’s constant jeering of him.
“So frustrating you play all year round preparing for this one tournament,” Price wrote in an Instagram story.
“So gutted I wasn’t let play but good luck everyone left in.
“Not sure I will ever play this event again.”
