Dylan Edwards produced an iconic grand final moment eerily similar to another 19 years ago in Penrith’s triumph over Parramatta on Sunday night.
The Panthers fullback, who has been in outstanding form for the reigning premiers, motored to catch runaway Eels flyer Bailey Simonsson, pulling off a textbook-perfect cover tackle and pulling him in to touch.
The moment had shades of Scott Sattler’s infamous tackle on Sydney Roosters’ Todd Byrne in their 2003 NRL grand final triumph.

“You could split screen the Sattler tackle with that and it would be eerily similar,” Channel 9 commentator Matt Thompson said.
“Different side of the ground, of course. But the way that he dragged him over the touch line there.”
The moment sparked wild scenes on the field as teammates came to congratulate Edwards and even the usually-reserved Ivan Cleary gave an animated celebration in the box.
Fans and pundits on social media lauded the moment that will go down in grand final folklore. Unfortunately there was a sour twist in the moment, with Simonsson reporting a “pop” in his shoulder.
