Rugby union star Kurtley Beale will fight allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman at a Bondi pub last year.
Mr Beale’s solicitor Lauren McDougall appeared on Mr Beale’s behalf at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday.
The Wallabies and Waratahs outside back was in January granted bail after being charged over an alleged sexual assault at a Bondi pub late last year.
The 34-year-old was not present in court on Wednesday when the matter was adjourned for two months for charge certification.
Outside court, Ms McDougall said Mr Beale intended to plead not guilty and fight the allegations.
Mr Beale was arrested after being stopped by police in his car at Kingsford, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs in January.
He has been charged with two counts of sexually touching another person without consent, inciting another person to sexually touch them without consent and sexual intercourse without consent over an alleged incident at Bondi’s Beach Road Hotel on December 17.
The court has previously heard that he would be pleading not guilty and denied any alleged sexual assault.
He was in January granted bail on conditions including that he report to police twice a week, not contact any prosecution witnesses and surrender his passport.
Mr Beale played 95 Tests for the Wallabies and was in 2023 making his return to the Waratahs after two seasons in French Rugby with Racing 92.
Rugby Australia earlier this year stood down Mr Beale pending the outcomes of his court proceedings.
Mr Beale will appear in court again in June.
