‘Very saddening’: Tigers star’s plea to criminal that stole premiership medals

Richmond footballer Shai Bolton has publicly pleaded for his two premiership medals to be returned after the prized mementos were stolen last year.

Bolton’s 2019 and 2020 AFL premiership medals were taken from his Malvern home on December 18 last year while the 24-year-old was away in Perth.

The All-Australian filed a burglary report to Victoria Police, but there has been no progress in recovering them.

“It is very saddening to have items as cherished as my premiership medals taken this way,” Bolton said.

“If anyone has any information about where they could be or that could help towards them being returned, it would mean a lot to me and my family.”

Bolton was drafted by Richmond in 2016, representing the Tigers in 94 games and kicking 106 goals since his debut in 2017. He won 2021 mark of the year and was a finalist for goal of the year last year.

Western Bulldogs premiership captain Easton Wood had his 2016 medal and his wife’s WWI dog tag stolen from his Albert Park home in April 2020.

“It’s just something you can’t replace,” Wood said at the time.

“It’s a medal that’s the symbol of everything the hard work over your career and what we achieved as a team in 2016 and it’s awful to have that symbol gone and that bit of history in my own life and I was hoping for that to be passed down to Matilda and her kids so it’s really upsetting to have that loss at the moment.

“So we’re really appealing if anyone knows anything or sees anything please get back to us.”
