6AM — DEALS ON THE CARDS FOR TUESDAY

A busy trade period has been expected for some time and with three deals completed on Monday – two trades and one free agent signing – that pace should continue into Tuesday.

A number of free agents, whose new homes are already known, still need to sign on while there are some simpler trades that should happen in the next 24-48 hours.

Bigger moves like Brodie Grundy to Melbourne, Josh Dunkley to Brisbane and Jason Horne-Francis to Port Adelaide are likely to take a bit longer, or at least require other deals to occur first.

As the Herald Sun’s Jon Ralph explained on Fox Footy’s Trading Day on Monday evening, as many as four moves could take place on Tuesday – though as always, exact timelines are impossible to predict, and dependent upon the whims of the clubs involved.

Blake Acres should get done. That’d be a three-year deal on a million bucks (total) at Carlton, and it’d be a future third-round pick back to Freo,” Ralph said on Fox Footy.

Liam Jones should become a Western Bulldog again. Three-year deal on about $300,000 a year.

“And Dan McStay should get gone to the Pies as well, for around $600,000 a year. They believe he can play as a ruckman, as a key defender and as a key forward, they like his versatility.”

Finally Adelaide could land its big fish with “the pieces in place” for the Izak Rankine deal.

He’ll go along with a fourth-round pick to the Crows, with Gold Coast receiving pick 5 and a future third-round selection.
