Richmond star Tom Lynch is facing a lengthy stint on the sidelines, with the key forward to undergo surgery on his foot after sustaining an injury during his side’s close loss to the Western Bulldogs
The Tigers on Sunday confirmed Lynch had sustained a fracture in his right foot following an incident in the second quarter of Saturday’s clash against the Dogs at the MCG.
In a statement, Richmond said it’d have “a clearer indication of the injury‘s timeline following surgery”.

Lynch’s pre-season — especially before Christmas — was somewhat hindered by a foot problem.
It comes with Lynch potentially in hot water for a bump on Bulldogs defender Alex Keath on Saturday.
Lynch and Keath were in a pack when the Bulldogs defender copped contact from Lynch, leading to Keath being subbed out of the game with concussion.
While Lynch’s contact is unlikely to be deemed intentional conduct, a medium or high impact grading could see him cop a suspension.
The Tigers face the Swans in Gather Round next week and take on the Demons in a fortnight.
