Jason Day shoots an opening round 70
A very solid opening round from Jason Day in his 14th Masters round.
Made nine pars on the front nine and backed it up with another two pars on 10 and 11 before birdies on the 12th and 13th to get to -2. He would have loved to get a little lower but that’s where he finishes day one. He’ll be pretty happy with that.
Once again, Day is looking sharp on the course.

Aussie Cam Davis chips in for an eagle
There you go!
Australian Cam Davis gets a little bit of a lucky break on the treacherous par five 15th by chipping in from the back of the green. Great shot though.
It looked a little hot as it rolled through the green but his ball smacks into the back of the pin and drops for a very nice three with three more holes to play.
It makes up for his double bogey on 13. A birdie on the 14th in there as well sees Smith go to the 16th at -1 and in a good spot on the leaderboard.

Hello and welcome
Good morning golf fans.
Here we are. One of the great weeks of the year is under way. Masters week.
It’s Tom Decent here in the Coogee bureau up bright and early ready to take you through the next few hours of action at Augusta.
We’ve already had a lot go down so far. A few Aussies are in the mix but some heavy already look the goods. Grab a coffee and let’s get into it.
