Super Rugby LIVE: Waratahs host Crusaders in must-win clash

The Hurricanes win at the death

For those who missed it, the Hurricanes have just finished a classic, beating the Highlanders right at the death, 24-20.

Why does this matter?

If the Highlanders had pulled off this shock, it would have a little more life into the Waratahs’ increasingly slim hopes of making finals.

If the Waratahs lose tonight against the Crusaders, they can still feasibly get into the finals, but they will need results to go their way, including Moana Pasifika beating the Auckland Blues.

In realistic terms to stand any chance, they need to make the next three games against the Crusaders tonight, then two away games against the Force and Blues.

There is a huge challenge tonight, with Waratahs starting tighthead prop Daniel Botha facing All Blacks loosehead Tamaita Williams.

Everyone in Allianz Stadium will also be keen to get a look at James O’Connor to see whether he can take another step towards Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt’s squad to face the British and Irish Lions.
