Stars’ hopes take hit with all-rounder ruled out for Sixers clash – BBL LIVE

The Sydney Sixers are hoping for back-to-back wins for the first time this BBL12 campaign when they face the Melbourne Stars on Boxing Day.

Both sides are sitting on just one win from three games, but it’s the Sixers who head into Monday night’s contest as the in-form team.

The Stars will be back after conceding the third highest BBL score in history against the Perth Scorchers on Friday night.

Adam Zampa proved the most economical for his side, conceding 9.5 an over from his four, while his teammates copped plenty of punishment in the 61-run loss.

Already without star Glenn Maxwell (broken leg) and batsman Joe Burns (hamstring) after his injury in the Stars’ opening game, there’s another big name missing for the clash with the Sydney Sixers.

The Stars have confirmed all-rounder Nathan Coulter-Nile will be “managed” and miss the Boxing Day clash.

But the team says he’ll be ready to return for their second encounter with the Perth Scorchers later in the week.

The Sixers will head into Monday’s match unchanged from their narrow win over the Hobart Hurricanes in their rain-affected 14-over clash.

Assistant coach Cameron White believes the Sixers have the right depth in their squad, with Jackson Bird to miss out again for a second match in a row.

“I think our squad is really strong so any of our team decisions are always difficult,” he said after the loss to Perth.

“You can come up with any combination.”
