St Kilda have decided to part ways with senior coach Brett Ratten after an internal review, just three months after he signed a two-year extension with the club.
The Age confirmed with sources close to Ratten that the 51-year-old was told on Thursday he will finish up after four seasons in the position having led the Saints to one finals series in that time.
The shock call comes as the club found itself stuck in a rut having missed the finals again in 2022 after losing eight of their last 11 games.
The club decided to do a review at the end of the season with former North Melbourne coach David Noble involved in the process that was overseen and steered by president Andrew Bassat. Geoff Walsh had been appointed as football manager but is not due to start until November 1.
Adem Yze is understood to be in the frame as a potential replacement for Ratten after the club had a quiet trade period having missed out on recruiting Collingwood free agent Jordan De Goey.
