Chilwell is attempting to revive his career after being part of the Chelsea’s so-called “bomb squad,” a group of players deemed surplus to requirements by head coach Enzo Maresca last summer.
However, Chilwell was unable to secure a move and has spent the first part of the campaign in the wilderness, making just one appearance as a substitute in September’s Carabao Cup win over League Two side Barrow.
Chilwell won the Champions League in his first season at Stamford Bridge after arriving in a £50 million ($62m) deal from Leicester City in August 2020.
