Sixers chase first win as Hobart’s ‘mystery man’ leaves rivals puzzled – BBL LIVE

The Sydney Sixers are desperate to register their first win of the BBL campaign, but they’ll have to find answers for Hobart’s “mystery” spinner Paddy Dooley on Thursday night.

The Hurricanes are still riding the high from their first win this season after Dooley led them to victory over the Perth Scorchers this week.

Dooley, whose unorthodox action is raising plenty of eyebrows, was the hero with 4-16 – including the big scalps of Faf du Plessis, Josh Inglis and Ashton Agar.

“I’m trying to work out whether he’s a leg spinner or an off-spinner! I can’t quite work it out,” Fox Cricket’s Mark Waugh said on RSN Radio.

“He didn’t really spin the ball much at all – there’s something about him isn’t there? He’s a character!

“There’s a bit of mystery about him!

“He won them the game.”

The man himself admitted his phone had been “blowing up” after his match winning performance on Monday night, but he was opting to remain grounded.

“One day I could have a four-fer and the next go for 12 an over,” he laughed on RSN Radio.

“I get a bit of white line fever – if I get a wicket, I don’t really know what I’m doing. I’m pumped up.

“I’m just riding it one game at a time at the moment.”

The Sixers will need to find someone who can counter Dooley, given they’ve struggled with the bat so far this tournament.

No player is yet to reach a bat-raising milestone, with their best the 42 from Hayden Kerr last Saturday in Perth.

Stephen O’Keefe is set to return to the line up for the clash at the SCG, after being left out of the team to play in Perth.
