Green was alleged to have referenced Cartwright’s struggles with a back injury during his time at the foot of the mountains.

South Sydney star Cody Walker reacted angrily and confronted Green at the end of the match. Vision showed Walker having to be restrained during the fiery excahnge.

The incident prompted Panthers great and Jed’s father John Cartwright to call for a lifetime ban for Green.

On Tuesday, however, the Daily Telegraph revealed Penrith had audio of the incident as Green was wearing a microphone throughout the game which was connected to the club’s chief medical officer.

The Telegraph was told Green said: “You’ve got to give him that one, Dyl” after the South Cartwright put a big hit on Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards.

It is understood the Panthers are preparing a medis statement which will back up Green leaving him free to execute his duties during the grand final against the Eels.

Speaking to the media at an open session on Tuesday, Cleary said there was no way Green had said what was alleged.

Green and Cartwright have reportedly spoken since the incident and cleared the air. South Sydney are happy to let the matter rest while the NRL won’t take any further action.
