TEDESCO’S SHOCK CALL
Superstar James Tedesco’s management has reportedly approached the Roosters hoping to negotiate a contract extension — despite having two years left on his current deal.
The 29-year-old, who is widely considered as the best fullback in rugby league, recently won the World Cup with Australia, playing in every game under Mal Meninga.
However, with both Joey Manu and Joseph Suaalii breathing down his neck at the Tricolours, Tedesco reportedly wants to lock down his long-term future according to the SMH.
While Manu is considered the successor to Luke Keary in the halves, Suaalii’s former adviser Steve Nasteski believes the young gun will be a fullback for years to come.
The 19-year-old flyer impressed for Samoa wearing the No.1 jersey and the Roosters now face a difficult task keeping the prodigy.
Suaalii contract includes yearly player options which would allow him to walk out of the club each season — which could see cross code rivals circle.
European rugby as well as Rugby Australia are set to table the talented outside back lucrative deals.
Suaalii was a vital member of Samoa’s charge to the World Cup final, before the Pacific nation were bested by a red-hot Kangaroos side, losing 30-10.

DALEY’S MANLY ROLE
Rugby league legend Laurie Daley is reportedly set to join Manly’s coaching staff alongside the newly appointed Anthony Seibold, Shane Flanagan and Jim Dymock.
According to the SMH’s Adrian Proszenko, Sea Eagles officials have submitted an official request to the NRL to allow the former Blues coach to join the club.
“Manly has put in an official submission to the NRL, explaining his role and what his responsibilities would be,” Proszenko said on SEN.
“Laurie Daley would be a huge boost to a staff that is already looking pretty impressive.
“Part of that brains trust, you’ve got Shane Flanagan, Jim Dymock… there’s a guy called Andrew May who just started, he’s worked with Parramatta over the last couple of seasons.
“He’s the former physical performance coach for Cricket Australia and NSW.
“If you add Laurie Daley to that mix, that’s looking as impressive as any brains trust in the NRL. Whether or not it happens remains to be seen.”
Daley is reportedly set to work as the club’s halves coach and help to develop Josh Schuster in the five-eighth role.
The 21-year-old has played mainly in the backrow across his 35 games for Manly but will now likely play alongside Daly Cherry-Evans after Kieran Foran’s departure.
