Maharashtra captain and opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has left the cricket world stunned, hitting seven sixes in just one over to shatter records.
It was the first time that such a feat had been achieved in List A cricket, with Shiva Singh the unfortunate victim of Gaikwad’s batting masterclass.
Maharashtra were facing Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final, finishing their innings with 330 runs on the board.
Uttar Pradesh is currently batting and trying to chase down that total that was given a significant boost when Gaikwad exploded in the penultimate over of their innings.
Gaikwad finished on 220 not out from 159 balls, finding the boundary 26 times (ten fours and 16 sixes).
