You don’t need to know a thing about NFL to love the Super Bowl.
Ignore Patrick Mahomes, who could boost his case as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time if he leads his Kansas City Chiefs to victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. You might not even care about Aussie Jordan Mailata and his bulldozing antics for Philly.
Even if you don’t watch a minute of the action on the field (which promises to be truly exciting this year), there’s Rihanna as the halftime entertainment.

Popcorners: Breaking Good
There’s a simple recipe for success when it comes to big-time ads: pick a mega-popular movie or TV show, get the actors to re-create it, and insert your product. Like when Bud Light partnered with Game of Thrones in 2019 (featuring The Mountain, a dragon, and an iconic ‘Hold my Beer’ line).
This time, Bryan Cranston (aka Walter White) and Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman) revive their epic Breaking Bad pairing, alongside their old distributor Raymond Cruz (Tuco Salamanca) in a brilliant ad.
It’s not the first time Cranston has reprised his role for a Super Bowl spot, but the trio getting back together turns it into something special.
Michelob Ultra: New Members Day
1980 golf movie Caddyshack – featuring Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, and Rodney Dangerfield to name a few – is hands down one of the greatest sports flicks of all time. This year, beer brand Michelob Ultra got the nostalgia juices flowing in a star-studded homage to the film. It features tennis legend Serena Williams alongside Succession actor Brian Cox, as well as a stack of other sports greats in Tony Romo, Jimmy Butler, Canelo Alvarez and Alex Morgan.
There’s also a three-minute extended version – and it definitely makes us want to go back and watch the cult classic movie.
Bud Light: Easy to Drink, Easy to Enjoy
Bud Light is one of the most iconic brands of the big game – so much so that in 2021 they even ran an ad celebrating all their famous characters from Super Bowl commercials through the years.
But this year takes a turn away from their usual frat-boy playbook, with actor Miles Teller, wife Keleigh, and even their dog, Bugsy the star attractions. The trio cop one of life’s great frustrations – being on hold – and make things fun, dancing along to the hold music that’s instantly recognisable.
Budweiser: Six Degrees of Bud
We all know Six Degrees of Separation – the idea that anyone can be connected to another person through a chain of six acquantainces. It became an iconic Will Smith/Stockard Channing/Donald Sutherland movie back in 1993, before becoming a popular parlour game known as Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon – where players try and connect any Hollywood actor to Kevin Bacon by the fewest steps possible (owing, of course, to the acting great having appeared in so many films).
Now, Budweiser has Kevin Bacon narrate their ad playing off the six-degrees idea, passing around a six-pack and sharing connections.
Workday: Rock star
Sick of hearing people in corporate jobs refer to colleagues as ‘rock stars’? Workday riffs on this theme by bringing back a host of rock legends – Ozzy Osbourne, Gary Clark Jr., Joan Jett, Billy Idol and Paul Stanley – to stop the nonsense.
Hellmann’s: Who’s in the Fridge?
Famous actors John Hamm and Brie Larson. Ham and Brie – two foods that go well with (Hellman’s) mayo. Throw in the seemingly ever-present Pete Davidson, and you’ve got puns and dinner. Here’s the extended edition.
