The St. Kilda Saints put on a dominant performance against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday, winning by a convincing margin of 59 points. The Saints were in control from the start, kicking the first five goals of the match and never looking back. They led by as much as 58 points at one stage, before the Bulldogs managed to kick a few late goals to reduce the margin.
The Saints were led by a strong performance from Jack Billings, who kicked four goals and had 29 disposals. He was ably supported by Dan Hannebery, who had 28 disposals and two goals, and Jack Steele, who had 25 disposals and a goal. The Saints’ midfield was simply too strong for the Bulldogs, with their pressure and intensity around the ball proving too much for the Bulldogs to handle.
The Saints’ defence was also impressive, with Jake Carlisle and Dylan Roberton both having strong games. Carlisle had 18 disposals and nine marks, while Roberton had 17 disposals and seven marks. The Saints’ backline was able to repel most of the Bulldogs’ forward entries, limiting them to just 11 goals for the match.
The Saints’ forward line was also impressive, with Tim Membrey kicking three goals and Josh Bruce kicking two. Membrey was a constant threat up forward, taking numerous strong marks and presenting well for his teammates. Bruce was also dangerous, using his strength and size to great effect.
Overall, it was a dominant performance from the Saints, who controlled the game from start to finish. Their pressure around the ball was immense, while their forward line was able to capitalise on their dominance in the midfield. The Bulldogs put up a brave fight but were simply no match for the Saints on the day.
