Remarkable streak continues as heavyweights fight for GF spot – AFLW Finals LIVE

There’s never been an AFLW grand final without either Brisbane or Adelaide in it.

And that remarkable trend will continue in 2022, with either minor premiers Brisbane or reigning premiers Adelaide to book their place in the AFLW grand final tonight.

Brisbane will have the chance to make their fourth grand final with victory over the Crows at Metricon Stadium on Friday night.

Furphy has made the commitment to provide equal support to its AFL and AFLW teams. Don’t support the AFLW? Unbelievable.

Starcevich said despite his side’s 2022 dominance – losing just once all season before the one-sided qualifying final win over Richmond, he was wary of the reigning premiers.

“Anyone can win. I can walk you through a whole lot of different scenarios over the years where teams that were expected to do well, haven’t, so you just need to be constantly on-guard for any possibility,” he said.

“There are no givens. There’s been plenty of underdogs (that win) … we’re completely on-guard for all of that.”

Adelaide, who won through a torrid semi final clash with Collingwood marred by shocking wet conditions, will be bolstered by the return of inspirational skipper Chelsea Randall.

Randall missed the victory in controversial scenes, after being ruled out due to concussion – despite passing her post-match tests.

The Lions head into the preliminary final unchanged, and are using last season’s preliminary final heartbreak to motivate them for Friday’s contest.

“Losing that prelim against Melbourne at the MCG earlier this year was disappointing, and I think a lot of girls are still holding on to that,” Lion Orla O’Dwyer said this week.

“Most of us girls were there for the prelim the previous year where we beat Collingwood at the Gabba, and are able to identify those two different feelings you had of pure happiness and disappointment.

“I think that’s great motivation going in.

“All the girls are zoned in on what they need to do.”

Friday night’s preliminary final kicks off from 6.40pm local time at Metricon Stadium.
