Sacked St Kilda coach Brett Ratten has landed a new job at North Melbourne, rejoining Alastair Clarkson as a part-time assistant coach at the club.
Ratten was axed by the Saints last month despite penning a two-year contract extension earlier in the year, with the 51-year-old replaced by Ross Lyon in the role.
The former Saints and Blues senior coach will now have a matchday role at the Roos, as well as spending time at the club during the week and working primarily with the side’s midfield group.

It marks a return to Alastair Clarkson’s coaching team, with Ratten spending six years with the Hawthorn coach during that side’s premiership three-peat between 2013 and 2015.
Ratten is set to commence in the role on Friday, with first-to-fourth year players having officially resumed training this week.
“Brett comes to the club as an experienced, knowledgeable football person and we are thrilled to welcome him to Arden St,” North Melbourne’s general manager of football Todd Viney said.
“Brett is a highly regarded operator who has been part of premiership success during his time at Hawthorn. His vast coaching experience will be a huge asset for our club.”
Additionally, Code Sports reports consultancy firm Leading Teams has joined the Kangaroos.
The firm has worked with Clarkson in the past during his time at Hawthorn and has provided its service to the majority of AFL sides.
North Melbourne is still seeking a final assistant coach to fill the vacancies left by Anthony Rocca and Heath Younie, who didn’t have their contracts renewed at the close of this season.
