Jack Crisp played the game of his life in a losing cause in his 200th match.
But two fellow stars struggled when the Pies needed them most on the preliminary final stage.

1. Patrick Lipinski
A big eight-disposal second term that included him saving a certain score with a shrewd intercept. Had 19 touches and six score involvements and went at 75 per cent by foot. 7
2. Jordan De Goey
Mr September was well below par. Was targeted by the Swans early in the game, went head to head with Luke Parker and had just four disposals in the first half. Had a better second half and tackled well, but nowhere near the same standard as the previous two weeks. 3
3. Isaac Quaynor
Became more influential as the game progressed, winning crucial intercepts across half-back and looking strong in the air. Finished with 10 intercepts, 18 disposals and six marks. 7
5. Jamie Elliott
Brilliant early, kicking two of Collingwood’s first four goal and applying great forward pressure. But had just one kick in the second half. 5
7. Josh Daicos
A far cry from his first two finals performances. Began on a wing next to Justin McInerney and had just one touch in the opening quarter and four for the first half. Conjured a brilliant goal from a forward 50 stoppages to give the Pies some hope in the third term. Finished with 14 touches, although seven of them led to Pies scores. 4
8. Trent Bianco
Started on the bench then patrolled the broadcast wing. Bobbed up for a crucial goal at the start of the fourth quarter to give Collingwood genuine belief. Went at 100 per cent by foot, but had just eight disposals. 4
9. John Noble
Took Will Hayward at the first bounce but spent time on other Swans forwards. Had 14 touches and six intercepts. 5
10. Scott Pendlebury
Rollercoaster night. Had a big first term with 10 touches and four inside 50s — then just one in the second. Fox Footy’s Jason Dunstall said: “Scotty Pendlebury’s fumbled more than I’ve ever seen him fumble in a game of footy, because the pressure builds and spreads.” Then was crucial in the Pies’ second-half surge with 18 disposals across the final two quarters. Capped off a terrific individual finals campaign. 8
14. Darcy Cameron
Got better as the game wore on. In fact probably played his best when he was the solo ruck after Mason Cox was subbed out. Nailed a lovely set-shot goal early in the second term under pressure. Had 11 disposals in the second half. 7
15. Nathan Kreuger
Started as the medical sub and was brought in as Mason Cox’s replacement. Missed a running shot at goal in the final quarter and finished with four touches for the game. 3
22. Steele Sidebottom
The veteran started slowly but got going after half-time, with the Pies feeding him as much as possible in the third term. Kicked a crucial goal late in the fourth term. 7
25. Jack Crisp
Colossal game from the star in his 200th match. Went head-to-head with Callum Mills at the start of the match. Produced a stunning running goal from a centre bounce that lifted Pies fans in the first term then had an enormous second quarter: Nine disposals, eight contested possessions, five clearances, three tackles and three inside 50s. Couldn’t have done much more for his side. Finished with 30 disposals, 20 contested possessions, 11 clearances, 10 inside 50s, nine clearances and six tackles. 9
28. Nathan Murphy
Spent time on Isaac Heeney. Had some big defensive moments in the final term, but only had four disposals. 4
30. Darcy Moore
A tale of two halves. Had the match-up on Sam Reid in the first half — and when the Swans veteran moved up the ground, Moore was prepared to stay in the defensive 50 to support his fellow backmen. The issue was he couldn’t generate any intercept possessions or marks. Fox Footy’s David King said: “The problem is Darcy Moore is not in the game.” Moved to Lance Franklin at the start of the third term and got more involved offensively, racking up nine of his 10 intercepts in the second half while getting involved in several defensive plays. Although he had a horror moment in the third term, with a shocking kick leading to a Justin McInerney intercept mark and goal. 6
31. Beau McCreery
The kind of player you want on your side come finals time. Kicked a couple of goals and was a constant threat for Swans defenders when they had ball-in hand. 5
32. Will Hoskin-Elliott
Broke the first-quarter goal drought with a clever snap late in the term. Then with four minutes to go conjured a wonderful snap goal to reduce Sydney’s lead to single figures. 5
33. Jack Ginnivan
Many fans thought he copped unfair treatment from the officiators during the match — just for some different commentary. Absolutely flushed a set-shot goal in the third term that got the Pies back within four goals. Overall just the seven touches and two tackles. 4
35. Nick Daicos
Tough night, but fought through the Ryan Clarke tag until the final siren. Perhaps the most frustrating aspect was that when Clarke drifted deep inside 50, Daicos was seen not paying him close attention, which led to Clarke’s first goal. Fox Footy’s David King said: “You’ve got to lock on and fight the fight. He didn’t do that and he let his team down.” Breathed some life back into Magpies fans at the start of the third term with a much-needed goal and had eight touches in the fourth term alone. 6
37. Brayden Maynard
A rare shocker for the Pies’ sole All-Australian. Started at the centre bounce before shifting back, as per usual. Went to Lance Franklin but the match-up didn’t last long, ultimately, with Franklin too big and strong. Couldn’t get his game going offensively either, while he was often seen arguing with umpires during the match. Finished with 12 disposals. 3
38. Jeremy Howe
Eventually moved onto Lance Franklin after the Brayden Maynard match-up didn’t work. Finished with six intercepts and 12 touches and went at 89 per cent by foot. 5
40. Ash Johnson
Forgettable night for the young gun. Scoreless from two kicks. 2
41. Brody Mihocek
Workmanlike as always. Pulled off one of the smothers of the year in the final term that led to a brilliant Steele Sidebottom goal, while he also kicked a major himself. 5
46. Mason Cox
Was the preferred ruck over Darcy Cameron for the Pies. Competed hard in the air to ensure no easy intercept Swans marks, while his follow-up work at ground level was also impressive. But was subbed out of the game in the third term with an injury in a blow for the Pies. 5
