Selections based on a good track.
Race 1
6. So You Pence started favourite on debut on the Riverside track at Wagga and ran a creditable second. She followed that with a win as an odds-on favourite at Moruya in December 2022. She’s had a recent trial at Canberra leading into this return where she finished second. Expect her to be primed to run well here fresh. 3. Rose Aye did the job well to score by a big margin at Moruya two starts ago and then ran well enough when second at Nowra. Can give this a shake. 5. Xcessive Force won well at this track on debut two starts ago when leading throughout. Also ran well again when second at Canberra and is set to give plenty of cheek here. 2. Wexford Miss broke her maiden at Kembla Grange two starts ago and then was down the track at Hawkesbury before being spelled. She’s been placed in a recent trial leading into this return.
How to play it: So You Pence to win.

Race 2
1. Obvious Icon is on debut for the Danny Williams stable and he is a recent trial winner at this track. He has shown enough talent to indicate he will take plenty of beating. 2. Son Of Rubick is on debut and has had two trials in almost a year. The latest was at this track and was sound. Could show up without surprising. 3. Flying Chevrolet has been placed in four of her eight starts and is resuming from a spell. A forward showing is on the cards. 10. Sure Intentions was placed at Queanbeyan in January and has run well in a trial since then.
How to play it: Obvious Icon to win.
Race 3
2. Jonny Be Swift showed improvement when up in distance when second up from a spell and finishing sixth at Canberra. He rises in distance again for this, which should suit, and the apprentice allowance will assist his chances. 6. Ever Was has only won the one race from 38 starts, but he’s figured in the placings a further nine times. He’s been just behind the placings of late and is worth including. 1. The Right Rein has a big weight, but his form in city grade races of late has been sound and this is easier. 11. Saint Loft was placed at Albury last time out and has place claims again.
How to play it: Jonny Be Swift each way.
Race 4
7. Vin Santo has only had two starts and ran well here when a last-start third last month. He’s shown enough talent to be rated a winning hope against these. 8. Aweigh has finished second in each of her past two starts and only needs to run up to those efforts to be hard to hold out. 9. Incantation was placed at Newcastle last November and resumes here after a solid recent trial. 5. Just Chill wasn’t disgraced at Hawkesbury on debut and is not out of this.
How to play it: Vin Santo to win.
Race 5
9. Honey Perfume resumed from a spell at Scone and ran well when finishing third behind Listins Lass. She should be better for that run and gets her chance to break through in this. 10. Quein Step is on debut, has looked good in her two trials and should be ready to run well. 8. Hazel Jean ran well when resuming at Canberra and can be placed again, while 2. Ima Capri was placed on debut at
Hawkesbury and should run well again.
How to play it: Honey Perfume to win.
Race 6
1. Be Quiet did the job well when going to the front and kicking on to score at Kembla Grange in maiden grade. She’s up in weight for this, but has the speed to make a winning bid again. 5. Sneaky Choice made her debut with a strong win at Gosford against a small field. She’s drawn wide here, but has obvious ability and looks hard to hold out again. 3. Il Passero resumed from a spell at Canberra and was heavily backed to score a strong win. He can go on with the job here. 2. Orthie’s Boys was a winner at Toowoomba on debut last July and then ran fourth at Newcastle in October. He’s had two trials leading into this return and bears close watching.
How to play it: Be Quiet to win.
Race 7
9. Hooligan Tommy won a couple on end at Scone and Canberra in August and September last year, then followed a second at Hawkesbury with a down-the-track effort at Wyong. He resumes here and has been placed first up twice. He is better suited over longer but should be ready to sprint well fresh. 10. Wal’s Angels wasn’t beaten far in a Highway at Rosehill when last produced, and he was placed in that grade at Rosehill three starts ago. 13. Dashing Rupert won his first two starts at this track and resumes here having failed at Warwick Farm before the break. 7. Mountain Chatter has a good record and should make an impact again.
How to play it: Hooligan Tommy to win.
