Selections based on a heavy track.
Race 1 MAIDEN HCP
6. Cordyceps Eight is working up to a win and ran the best race of his five starts to date when a solid third at Canberra on a heavy track second-up. On pacer who will get through the ground and should give a good sight.
How to play it: Cordyceps Eight WIN. Odds & Evens: SPLIT.
Race 2 CG&E MAIDEN PLATE
Tough race. 7. Karedada is an interesting first starter trained by Angela Davies and he’s shown plenty of talent in his trials. Latest was a month ago and won well at Newcastle. Watch for any market support.
How to play it: Karedada WIN. Odds & Evens: ODDS.
Race 3 F&M MAIDEN PLATE
1. Definitely Maybe was competitive in all four starts in the autumn with two placings and two fourths. Was a beaten favourite on a heavy at Hawkesbury but forgiving of that at the end of the prep. Should run well.
How to play it: Definitely Maybe WIN; Odds & Evens: SPLIT.
Race 4 CLASS 1 HCP
5. Token Capitalist scored an upset win at this track on debut then backed it up on a heavy track with a solid second at Newcastle after leading. Looks well suited here and should take plenty of running down.
How to play it: Token Capitalist WIN; Trifecta 5/2,4,6/2,4,6. Odds & Evens: SPLIT.
Race 5 PROVINCIAL MAIDEN PLATE
1. Dreamdeel was nine months off the scene before resuming with a solid third here on heavy ground behind a smart type. If he can run up to that performance he should land on the speed and give a sight.
How to play it: Dreamdeel E/W; Odds & Evens: SPLIT.
Race 6 COND BM 68 HCP
3. Allusionist is racing in good form at the moment with a heavy track win here a month ago then tried hard under 61kg when placed at Newcastle. Rarely runs a bad race and he should be very competitive again.
Dangers: 7. Power Bank is flying of late and can measure up; 8. Know Where To Look is under-rated and is an each-way hope.
How to play it: Allusionist WIN; Trifecta 3/2,7,8/2,7,8. Odds & Evens: ODDS.
Race 7 MIDWAY BM 64 HCP
2. Miss Kojiki was a drifter in betting last start but got the job done narrowly over this track and distance a few weeks back. Takes on all comers this time but drawn well, handles the ground and is a good chance.
How to play it: Miss Kojiki E/W; Odds & Evens: SPLIT.
