‘Pulled something straight out of the Champions League!’ Lion’s ‘miracle’ touch stuns AFL world

Brisbane star Charlie Cameron has produced a “miracle” feather touch to nail what could be the goal of the year.

The crafty Cameron was already in the air as he attempted to grab the bouncing footy inside forward 50 against GWS on Saturday.

But when the ball failed to bounce up to him, Cameron got a brilliant deflection from his right boot that would leave even the highest paid soccer stars jealous as the footy rolled through for a goal.

Round 6

“It would be a miracle goal from Charlie!!” commentator Dwayne Russell said.

“Oh my goodness.

“It’s a mark of magic from Charlie Cameron.”

Fellow commentators Garry Lyon and Jordan Lewis had no doubt Cameron meant to angle the footy towards goal.

“That’s goal of the year candidate,” Lyon said.

“The next part of this argument is did he mean it? And I’m saying yes.

“That is as skilful … he just let it roll onto his foot.

“He accepted the ball had momentum and all he needed was to get a touch and he just let it roll off his foot.

“It’s genius.

“That is unbelievable.

“Everyone can have your two bobs on this whether he meant it or not – I’m saying yes.

“I think he anticipated the roll, just stuck the foot out and let it roll – basically let it roll over his shoe laces!

“His head spun straight away … that is football genius.

“It is magnificent.”

Lewis said watching the angle of Cameron’s foot showed him the star Lion knew exactly what he was doing.

“If it was anyone else, you’d have question marks, but because it’s Charlie Cameron … If you’re looking at his foot, his toes are up but he sees the ball won’t bounce up to his hands so he puts his toes down to try and get a little deflection on the way through,” Lewis praised.

“I think when he jumped, he thought the ball would bounce high. He realised it wasn’t late so he flattened his foot out.”
