Everton boss Frank Lampard could be sacked within days as the club faces the daunting prospect of being relegated from England’s top flight for the first time since 1950-51.
The Toffees sit second-to-last in the Premier League on 15 points from 20 games, ahead of Southampton only on goal difference.
Everton’s form has been dire — a 2-0 loss to West Ham on Sunday left the club without a win in 10 games.

The Telegraph reports that in the aftermath of the loss, Everton held talks over Lampard’s position.
Sources believe that the club is now preparing to sack the Chelsea legend, according to the publication.
What could buy Lampard more time, however, are a lack replacement options, which were said to be discussed during the meeting with the board and majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
Moshiri is reportedly uncertain over the best way to move forward if the club was to part ways with Lampard mid-season.

Moshiri himself has faced strong criticism in recent days with the club pitted in a relegation fight that could go down to the wire.
Former Everton striker Kevin Campbell believes Moshiri should also be held responsible for the club’s form, while blasting him for publicly distancing himself over the decision on Lampard’s future.
The West Ham match was the first in 15 months that Moshiri attended and, asked afterwards if Lampard would be sacked, he said: “I can’t comment. It’s not my decision.”
Former defender Alan Stubbs said in response: “It’s not my decision’. Who’s (sic) is it then, enlighten us Agents, his mate, kit man’s, chef, media??????’.
Campbell replied: “I can’t believe all this foolishness!
“We all know the buck stops with the owner Stubbsy!”
Lampard has lost 21 of 38 matches in charge since he took over from Rafael Benitez 12 months ago.
Life is not about to get much easier for the Toffees either, with their next two matches against league leaders Arsenal, and bitter cross-town rivals Liverpool.
