On Sunday night, Noah Lyles floated from the Stade de France, the newly crowned fastest man in the world. On Thursday night, he left in a wheelchair.
Lyles tested positive for COVID on Tuesday and still raced the 200m Olympic final on Thursday night. He won bronze, but that he finished the race at all was extraordinary.

How one tactical turn cost Australian swimmer gold
Speaking of marathon swimming, did you see that Australia Moesha Johnson won a silver in the women’s event yesterday?
For more than an hour during that race, it looked like Johnson would snag Australia’s 19th gold medal of the Games, but in the last few hundred metres, Sharon van Rouwendaal of the Netherlands snagged the lead to win gold.

We’re getting towards the end of the Games now, but there are still plenty of medals to win before we get to the Opening Ceremony.
It’s day 14 in Paris, where the men’s marathon swimming will get us under way from 3:30pm AEST. Kyle Lee and Nick Sloman are the Aussies to look out for in that event, before we head to the golf with Hannah Green and Minjee Lee.
