‘Our family’s already suffered’: Candice Warner speaks out on ‘abuse’ faced by daughters

“It’s still raw, we go to cricket so often watching David play and there’s always people yelling things out at the crowd,” she said.

The former ironwoman began to cry when she talked about her three young daughters, Ivy Mae (8), Indi Rae (6), and Isla Rose (3).

Candice and her husband David Warner, and their three children.

“My daughters proudly wear their dad’s T-shirt with their dad’s name on the back. The fact that my daughters have to cop abuse because of incidents that have happened in the past is not fair,” she said.

When asked about the hearing, Candice said the fact it was made public was unnecessary, describing the need for coaches and players to be cross-examined as “outrageous”.

“It was [supposed to be] all about David talking about how he’s reformed, and the good that he’s done, and this is just not what this was about.”

“Our family’s already suffered and endured so much pain. Why do it now? What’s it going to achieve? This was all supposed to be done on Wednesday next week, apparently. Why? For the good of who? For the good of us? No. For the good of the cricket team? No. Who’s benefiting from this?”
