The group 1 training combination of John O’Shea and Tom Charlton will be out to maintain their winning momentum at Hawkesbury on Tuesday when Polymnia lines up as a dominant favourite in the Jacobs Creek Maiden Plate (1800m).

O’Shea and Charlton won the Randwick Guineas just over a week ago with the talented three-year-old Linebacker, with that galloper set to chase further feature race success over the autumn.

They also combined to score with King Of Thunder at Rosehill on Saturday, with that galloper among the entries for the group 1 ATC Australian Derby on day one of The Championships at Randwick.

Polymnia has finished second in four of her seven starts and ran fourth in group 2 company at Moonee Valley last preparation at her last run before being spelled.

She’s had two runs back from the break and has finished second in each of them at Warwick Farm.

“She hit the line well first-up from back in the field to finish second,” said O’Shea.

“It was a pleasing return, and then she backed it up with another strong second at Warwick Farm. She had her chance there but wasn’t beaten far by another handy horse, and the step up in distance should suit her at Hawkesbury.”

Zac Wadick and James McDonald have been aboard Polymnia in her latest two starts, but Zac Lloyd will take over the reins on Tuesday.

“Zac [Lloyd] has been riding in great form, and he got the job done for us on Linebacker in the Randwick Guineas, so we’re hoping for the same result with Polymnia at Hawkesbury.”

O’Shea and Charlton will also have Memphis Tennessee lining up in the same event at Polymnia, and he comes out of the same Warwick Farm race that Polymnia contested last time out.

“He’s had the two runs back from a spell and has been down the track a bit, but he can improve up to the 1800m,” O’Shea said.

Flaming Moon is an emergency for O’Shea and Charlton in the XXXX Ginger Cup Benchmark 64 Handicap (1500m), with Lloyd also booked for the ride should the debut winner happen to gain a start.
