Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic side face the biggest test of their season so far when they host bitter rivals Rangers in the first Old Firm derby of the new campaign (9.30pm AEST).
The Australian mastermind – recently joined at the Glasgow club by assistant coach and former Socceroo Harry Kewell and current Socceroos midfield star Aaron Mooy – has guided the Hoops to five-straight league wins to start the season in perfect fashion.
But this weekend heralds the start of tougher tests. First up is Rangers, who finished second in the league last season by just four points and look even stronger this season, also starting with a five-game unbeaten run.

Then, on Wednesday morning AEST, Celtic host Real Madrid in their first Champions League group stage match – a historic moment for the Australian manager and one of the biggest tests of his storied career.
It is the first time since 2017 that Celtic have competed in the Champions League, but Postecoglou says his team aren’t there to make up the numbers.
“What you want to make sure is that when you have these opportunities, it’s better to swap shirts with players you admire after you’ve knocked them off, rather than just grabbing one for your collection,” he said.
