Setting the scene

A tip for the interstate showdown

So, what to make of the showdown between the NSW Cup premiers and the kings of the Queensland Cup which returns for the first time since 2019?

The Penrith Panthers will be without starting halfback Sean O’Sullivan, who is on standby should disaster strike today for the NRL side. Taking the reins will be Kurt Falls – who earned a taste of first grade football this year – and Jack Cole.

Norths Devils winger Brayden McGrady will miss the clash after dislocating his elbow while scoring a match-winner last week, while ex-NRL playmaker Tyrone Roberts is also out of the side.

Tyson Gamble will pull the strings in attack for the Devils but Falls will steer the Panthers over the line, having set up 16 tries in as many reserve grade games this year, against a Devils outfit which gave up 24 points per game in the Queensland Cup. Tip: Panthers by 12.

The final day of the season has arrived

Folks, it’s grand final day. The best day on the rugby league calendar is upon us, and we are 80 minutes of football away from someone writing their name into the history books.

Will it be the Penrith Panthers clinching back-to-back titles? Can the Parramatta Eels end 36 years of false dawns and heartache to reach the summit once more? The battle for western Sydney supremacy now means more than ever.

Parramatta have a chance to cap off another fairytale today, with their NRLW side looking to cap off a stirring turnaround with premiership glory. Standing in their way are the Newcastle Knights, who may just boast the two best players on the planet in Millie Boyle and Tamika Upton.

Long before Nathan Cleary and the Panthers hunt for the Provan-Summons Trophy tonight, Penrith’s NSW Cup side get us underway against Queensland Cup winners Norths Devils in the return of the State Championship.

Caden Helmers and Adam Pengilly on deck to get you through the day here at Accor Stadium, with plenty of news and analysis to come from our team on the ground.
