NRL crackdown continues as Broncos under investigation over Ben Hunt dealings

League Central’s anti-tampering crackdown is set to continue after an NRL inquiry was reportedly launched into the Broncos’ pursuit of Ben Hunt.

The Dragons skipper revealed in June he wanted out of the Red V club and was allegedly pursued by Brisbane powerbrokers at the time.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that the NRL received a formal complaint against the Broncos and it is understood it wasn’t filed by the Dragons.

There is currently no suggestion the Broncos are guilty of any misconduct and are reportedly yet to be contacted regarding the matter.

Similarly, the Dolphins weren’t contacted by the NRL while they investigated their conduct which led to a $50,000 fine for failing to provide adequate records of negotiations with Broncos flyer Deine Mariner.

News Corp’s report states that preliminary evidence is reportedly being gathered before the club is approached.

NRL salary-cap auditor Matt Faulkner previously reportedly sent the Broncos, Dolphins and Titans an email asking for records of any correspondence with Hunt.

At the time the Dragons reportedly requested the NRL investigate any negotiations, with Brisbane powerbrokers keen on his services.

The NRL’s investigation into the Mariner saga reportedly took a total of nine months, but now the Broncos could come under the microscope.
