Have your say. Who will win?
View from the ground
Signs of life from the Tigers
They didn’t score any points, but the last few minutes have been enough to give Tigers fans some hope. Plenty of pressure. Now to do repeat that for 15,20 or 30 minutes. Not three. Manly lead 10-0 after 22 minutes
Oh Charlie
This has not been a great 20 minutes from Charlie Staines. He got blitzed for Manly’s first try and has since thrown a couple of very ordinary passes – one of which cost his side a try. The Forbes Ferrari is going more like a Leyland P76 at the moment. (Yes, I’m old)
VIDEO – Saab try
First half action
Alarm bells ringing – already
Now it’s Lehi Hopoate who has scored. This try wasn’t far off training ground stuff. So far, best edges for the Tigers have conceded a try. Manly lead 10-0 after 12 minutes.
Tigers all at sea – Saab scores
Jason Saab scored, but Reuben Garrick deserved the credit. A supber step and shimmy left Tigers centre Charlie Staines looking like Bambi on an ice rink. To borrow an NBA term: that was an ankle breaker from Garrick.
Tigers under pressure once, one try conceded. Not a great sign. Manly lead 6-0 after 8 minutes
Turbo saves a try
An excellent show of strength from Tom Trbojevic. Aidan Sezer looked certain to score before the big No.1 flipped him onto his back in impressive fashion. Maybe he was watching some Greco-Roman wrestling during the Olympics. I certainly wasn’t.
Manly’s challenge gone already
We have a new leader in the “Worst challenge of the year” category. Haumole Olakau’atu fumbled, looked suitable perplexed and Daly Cherry-Evans challenged. He was never going to win that one. DCE and Huamole had better hope that doesn’t come back to hurt them. 0-0 after 3 minutes
Game time is here
The preliminaries are now out of the way and the main event nears. Manly have to be massive favourites but stranger things have definitely happened. Players are heading onto the field. Let’s hope for some entertainment.
