The Kansas City Chiefs lead the Miami Dolphins 16-7 at halftime in freezing cold conditions at Arrowhead Stadium.
Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is regarded as one of the league’s best at the position, and he’s showing his worth in tough condition, converting all three field goal attempts. Those nine points are the difference so far.
Chiefs QB Pat Mahomes found rookie WR Rashee Rice for an 11-yard touchdown to open the scoring and thanks to some hard running from Isiah Pacheco, got the upper hand early.
The Dolphins haven’t done a whole lot on offence, but one rare moment was QB Tua Tagovailoa finding star WR Tyreek Hill for a 53 yard touchdown at the start of the second quarter.
It’s Hill’s first game back at Arrowhead Stadium since leaving the Chiefs for the Dolphins after spending the first six seasons in Kansas City.
At kickoff, the temperature was as low as -4 farenheit which equates to -20C.
The added wind chill factor means that out on the field, it feels as low as -28C.
The Chiefs have run the ball well early, which will be key in these conditions.
