Darragh Foley explained his all-time lottery ticket stunt came as a result of Blake Minto’s pledge to give half of his knockout bonus to a mental health charity, a scenario that Foley believes “has as much chance as winning the lottery”.
Foley (20-4, 9KO) faces local star Minto (14-3, 3KO) at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre as one of the 20 fights on offer at Super Saturday.

No Limit CEO George Rose has promised to hand over a $10,000 bonus to the fighter who delivers the best knockout of the night and Minto pledged to donate it to a mental health charity should he win it via a video.
Upon viewing the clip, a light bulb immediately went off in the Dublin native’s head and it played out in wild fashion at the official press conference as he flashed two Lotto tickets: one for Minto and one for himself.
“I watched a video and he’s saying if he knocks me out, he’s going to be very nice and going half of it to give it to mental health,” Foley told foxsports.com.au.

“Something that’s never, ever going to f***ing happen. So I wanted to put it into comparison by buying him a lotto ticket.
“Plus it’s his birthday as well. It’s not every day you’re 30 years old. I wanted to give him an early birthday present.
“I’m going to give him his birthday bashings on Saturday, you can be sure of that. But I wanted to give him an early birthday present. That’s how it came about. He has as much chance as winning the lottery.”
Foley himself is no stranger to a cheeky stunt, famously hurling nappies at George Kambosos Jr. at the Alexandria Basketball Stadium in 2015.
Yet the 34-year-old, who celebrated his own birthday two weeks ago, insists he’s “just having fun” up on stage.

“I’m just being me,” Foley said.
“I don’t keep a score of stunts pulled. I’m no stuntman, I just like having a bit of fun up there.
“There’s too many people up there that are afraid of the sound of their own voice and that’s not me.
“I have conviction in everything I say and do. If I say I’m going hunting that knockout bonus, I’m not going to go up there and say I’m not. I do what I say and I say what I do.”
Foley himself is hunting the five-figure bounty, something he has been extremely vocal about in the lead-up to Saturday’s extravaganza.
However, he remains adamant that Rose will put $15,000 on the line instead of $10,000.
And he’s already mapped out how he will spend it.
“I’ll put a bit behind the bar for the afterparty,” Foley said.
“Maybe $5000, keep the other $10,000 for my little baby daughter.”
