Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised the “belief and ruthlessness” of youngster Bukayo Saka following his impressive performances this season. The 19-year-old has been a key player for the Gunners since the start of the campaign and has been a shining light in an otherwise difficult season.
Arteta has been full of praise for the young Englishman, who has made 28 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four goals and providing seven assists. Speaking after Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Leicester City, Arteta said: “Bukayo has been excellent since I arrived. He has a great attitude, he’s very humble and he wants to learn. He’s got a great belief and a ruthlessness to his game.”
The Spaniard also praised Saka’s versatility, which has seen him play in a variety of positions this season. He has been deployed as a left-back, left wing-back, left winger and even as an attacking midfielder at times. Arteta said: “He’s been playing in different positions, he’s been adapting and he’s been doing really well. He’s got a great future ahead of him.”
Saka has been one of the few positives for Arsenal this season, with the club currently languishing in 10th place in the Premier League table. His performances have earned him a call-up to the England senior squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers and Arteta believes that Saka can continue to improve and become an even better player. He said: “He’s still a young player and he can get better and better. He’s got the potential to be one of the best players in the league.”
It is clear that Arteta is a big admirer of Saka and it is no surprise that the youngster has become such an important player for Arsenal this season. With his attitude and ability, there is no doubt that Saka will continue to be an important player for the Gunners for many years to come.
