Jockey Darryl McLellan will combine with trainer Terry Evans at Grafton on Wednesday with the pair set to take a power of beating in the feature event of the day.

McLellan and Evans will combine with the consistent De Poet when the five-year-old son of Denman lines up in the Jacaranda Cup Benchmark 82 Handicap (1100m).

“He’s a pretty talented galloper that has won five of 19 starts,” McLellan said of De Poet.

“He’s a well-bred type and is never far from the action. His recent form has been pretty good and he should run well on Wednesday.”

McLellan will stick with Evans when he rides Korubela Miss in the CRJC Life Members Benchmark 58 Handicap (1400m).

“She’s a mare that’s been around a while,” said McLellan.

“She’ll need to improve to make an impact, but I’m sure she can.”

McLellan will ride Son Of A Gun for trainer Lea Selby in the Remembering Fred Schwinghammer Country Boosted Jacaranda Maiden Handicap (1700m).

“He’s drawn a good gate and while he hasn’t figured in the money yet, he certainly looks capable of doing so,” McLellan said.

The jockey’s other ride of the day is Gerry’s Pick in the Remembering Warren Tozer Super Maiden Plate (1200m).

“She ran well enough at her only start and she should he OK to run well again,” said McLellan.

The trainer and jockey combination of Brett Bellamy and Courtney Bellamy will be in action with last-start winner Single Touch contesting the same event that De Poet contests.

Single Touch had been racing well and was placed in a couple of races on end of late before scoring in good style at Grafton when last produced.

Trainer Kris Lees and jockey Andrew Mallyon will also combine again when debut winner Khamis returns to Grafton for the third time in her career.

Khamis scored a strong win by a big margin when debuting at Grafton, and then had her chance when finishing a close-up second at Grafton when having her second start.

The daughter of Pariah has drawn awkwardly on Wednesday, but is poised to run well.
