Luke Brooks bombshell as Tigers star set for stunning Manly swap

Manly is reportedly set to sign Wests Tigers half Luke Brooks from 2024 on a long-term contract.

News Corp reports Brooks will earn around $2m over a potential three-year deal at the Sea Eagles, a hefty pay cut from this season’s $1.15m Tigers paycheck. Channel 9’s Danny Weidler reported the deal could instead be four years.

28-year-old Brooks is off contract at the end of this season, his 11th at the joint-venture side, and recently snubbed an offer to remain at his boyhood club beyond this year.

Brooks had been linked to NRL rivals the Cowboys, Bulldogs, and Dragons, and also attracted interest from the Super League.

But he will now link up with Manly’s superstar half Daly Cherry-Evans in a move that puts Josh Schuster’s future at Brookvale in doubt.

Schuster this year switched to five-eighth to replace Kieran Foran after the veteran’s move to the Titans, and despite some struggles the 22-year-old has reportedly been offered a three-year contract extension in recent weeks.

Manly had reportedly offered Schuster to the Tigers in recent weeks, but Fairfax reported over the weekend that the Concord club ruled out a move for the rising five-eighth.

The departure of Brooks leaves the Wests Tigers searching for a long-term halves pairing, with the playing future of Adam Douehi still uncertain following a serious knee injury.

24-year-old Brandon Wakeham is off-contract at season’s end, while News Corp recently reported that the Tigers reached out to Broncos halfback Jock Madden over a potential return to the Tigers.

23-year-old Madden, who debuted for the Tigers in 2021 before moving to Brisbane this season, is under contract with the Broncos through 2025.
