Melbourne Renegades captain Nic Maddinson has rolled his ankle while running in to celebrate a wicket with his teammates.
The Renegades were celebrating the wicket of Sydney Thunder batsman Rilee Rossouw, who was given out LBW in the 11th over, when Maddinson went down after going for a high five.
“He got a bit over excited there Maddinson, it looks like he’s in a bit of pain too, that right ankle,” Brad Haddin said on Fox Cricket.

Corbin Middlemas added: “That’s something you never want to see in any level of sport. Hopefully it’s not too bad and he can get it re-strapped.”
Melbourne Stars coach David Hussey, who was also in the commentary box, then revealed Maddinson did the same injury while playing a few years ago.
“One game in which Nic Maddinson was playing for the Stars a few years ago down in Hobart, he ran to stop a ball at the long off boundary and stood on the rope and rolled his ankle and missed three weeks, it wasn’t ideal for us,” Hussey said.

Insult was added to injury when Rossouw successfully reviewed the LBW decision and went on to make 53 runs.
Maddinson left the field for treatment at the end of the 12th over but returned in the 15th over after being cleared of serious injury.
“We saw Nic Maddinson roll his ankle as part of that celebration. He went down to the rooms and had his ankle assessed but he looked really relaxed coming back, he didn’t look to have a limp,” Fox Cricket boundary reporter Drew Jones said.
“When I spoke to the Renegades they weren’t worried at all about their captain, a slight roll of the ankle.”
The Thunder finished at 6-174 and Maddinson opened the batting for the Renegades and was running freely between the wickets.
