Round 1

St Helens touched down in Sydney a couple of weeks ago in preparation for the first World Club Challenge since 2020.

They were put through their paces in a clash with the Dragons last week but know the Panthers are a completely different beast.

St Helens have won the last four Super League grand finals, but still go into the clash as the underdogs.

Penrith have dominated the NRL for the last three seasons, finishing 2020 as minor premiers and then winning back-to-back premierships in 2021 and 2022.

Panthers coach Ivan Cleary is pulling no punches for this clash, naming an almost full strength side with the exception of Dylan Edwards and Liam Martin — both unavailable due to minor injuries.

Nathan Cleary will don the No.7 jersey and he was singled out by St Helens as the Panthers’ biggest weapon.

The NRL premiers have won the last three World Club challenges.
