Richmond and the Western Bulldogs will hope to generate some early-season momentum after patchy starts to their respective campaigns, with the Tigers poised to make a shock sub call.
The Tigers (1-1-1) have been bolstered by the return of Dustin Martin and Jacob Hopper, but outside runner Jayden Short will miss at least another week with his calf concern, while veteran duo Trent Cotchin and Jack Riewoldt will be rested. However there’s a sense Cotchin will be used as the sub for Saturday’s game as he was the sole Richmond emergency not warming up for the VFL.
The Bulldogs (1-2) coach Luke Beveridge said he was “surprised” the Tigers decided to rest Riewoldt and Cotchin as his side aims to continue its recovery from a shocking start to the season.
