The Brisbane Lions will be sweating on scans for father-son star Will Ashcroft, who injured his knee in an innocuous incident during Saturday’s win over Geelong.
Ashcroft clutched at his right knee after a seemingly innocuous contest midway through the final quarter, requiring the assistance of trainers to come from the field.
The Lions will be hoping Ashcroft has avoided a dreaded ACL rupture, which would rule him out for this season and the bulk of next season.

In just his first year of senior football, Ashcroft has been brilliant in the midfield for the Lions, living up to the hype that saw him bid on with pick No.2 in last year’s draft.
He has played every game for the Lions this season and is a heavy favourite for the Rising Star award.
