Latrell and Wighton arrive at court as NRL stars fight nightclub brawl charges

Two NRL stars who got into an alleged scuffle during a night out of birthday celebrations will fight their respective charges in court.

South Sydney Rabbitohs fullback Latrell Mitchell and Canberra Raiders five-eighth Jack Wighton were arrested in central Canberra earlier this month after they allegedly got into a fight outside a nightclub.

The two men, who are believed to have been out celebrating Wighton’s 30th birthday, each pleaded not guilty to multiple offences in the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Mitchell, 25, has been charged with fighting in a public place, affray, and resisting a territory public official.

Wighton has been charged with fighting in a public place and failing to comply with an exclusion direction.

The pair arrived at court together on Wednesday morning and sat next to each other in the courtroom where they appeared relaxed.

The magistrate removed their bail conditions to report to police.

Mitchell and Wighton will return to court for a three-day hearing from October 30-November 1.
