Nick Kyrgios has laughed off photographs showing him breaching Victorian road rules on Sunday when he rode an E-scooter without a helmet ahead of the Australian Open
Kyrgios could be in hot water after he media photographs showed him sharing an E-scooter with girlfriend Costeen Hatzi in a Melbourne CBD street – with neither wearing helmets.
It was an interesting transportation choice for Kyrgios who was forced to pull out of the Adelaide International with a knee injury.
A green helmet could be seen attached to the Uber Lime e-scooter as Ms Hatzi wrapped her arms around Kyrgios’ body.

But Kyrgios laughed off media reports of his actions. Former Australian basketball star Andrew Bogut shared an article about the incident on Twitter, writing: “Such a nanny state! Fine him for not taking his OWN safety seriously” and adding a series of clown emojis.
Kyrgios replied with a series of emojis crying with laughter, writing: “nah it’s too much now”.
It comes after doubles teammate Thanasi Kokkinakis defended his good friend against the intense media scrutiny he typically receives.
“I think sort of some of the stuff he does that maybe people see as negative gets thrown in the spotlight a little more than others because of maybe he’s had a reputation for it,” Kokkinakis told reporters.
“He’s no saint at the same time. He’s done a couple things that are probably warranted.
“I think some of the stuff is unfair.”
The Canberra native hasn’t enjoyed a smooth lead-up to the Australian Open after blindsiding his Australian teammates by pulling out of the United Cup the day before.
Battling an ankle injury, he was forced to pull the pin on playing in the Adelaide International but took to Rod Laver Arena last Friday in an exhibition blockbuster against Novak Djokovic.
