‘Keep fighting’: Lara’s passionate address in West Indies’ sheds after gutsy first Test

Cricket legend Brian Lara delivered a passionate address in the West Indies’ dressing room following their gutsy performance against Australia in the first Test.

Lara made a 45-minute visit to the tourists sheds in Perth on Sunday and encouraged the side to ‘keep fighting’, according to The Age.

The West Indies famously won in Adelaide by a single run back in 1993 and five members of that team will be at the match this week.

Fox Cricket’s Lara, coach Phil Simmons, selector Desmond Haynes, and commentators Ian Bishop and Carl Hooper.

West Indies assistant coach Roddy Estwick welcomed the arrival of Lara in the sheds and also praised skipper Kraigg Brathwaite for his century in the second innings.

“The Test team is a close unit led by Kraigg, he’s a quiet operator but a strong operator and he leads by example,” Estwick said.

“When you see your captain fighting like he does, it obviously lifts the morale in the team to fight as well.

“The belief has been good all years, this is the first Test match we’ve lost all year. So we’ve been playing decent Test cricket.

“We knew coming here was going to be difficult, but we were happy with the way we fought, that people were prepared to battle and stay in the battle.
