John Sattler Honoured by Rugby League Legends Bob Gould and John Gallen

Recently, two of the most iconic figures in Australian rugby league, Bob Gould and John Gallen, have come together to honour one of the sport’s greatest players, John Sattler.

John Sattler was a legendary player for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, playing for the team from 1963 to 1971. He was renowned for his toughness, courage and determination, and was an integral part of the Rabbitohs’ success during this period. He captained the team to four premierships, including the famous 1970 Grand Final victory, where he famously played on with a broken jaw.

Bob Gould and John Gallen have both been inducted into the Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame, and are widely recognised as two of the greatest players in the history of the sport. They have now come together to honour John Sattler, who they both regard as one of the greatest players of all time.

The pair have established a new award in John Sattler’s name, which will be presented annually to the player who best exemplifies the spirit of rugby league. The award will be presented at the annual South Sydney Rabbitohs Hall of Fame dinner, and will be presented by Bob Gould and John Gallen.

John Sattler is a true legend of rugby league, and it is fitting that two of the sport’s greatest players have come together to honour him in this way. The John Sattler Award will serve as a reminder of his legacy, and will ensure that his name lives on in the annals of rugby league history.
