Huge drama as Aussie claims scales were ‘tampered with’ so champ made weight for title bout

Liam Wilson’s WBO junior lightweight world title bout against Emanuel Navarrete has been made official after both men hit the scales and made weight, although the Aussie has accused his rival of cheating to make weight.

Despite being the taller man, Australian star Wilson tipped the scales at 126.3 pounds, comfortably below the 130-pound junior lightweight limit.

The Queenslander looked noticeably ripped as he stepped on stage in Glendale, Arizona ahead of his first world title bout.

Navarrete, competing at junior lightweight for the first time, was also below the weight limit but flew closer to the sun than Wilson, weighing in at 129.2 pounds with a big smile on his face.

Given the staggering difference between the pair, Wilson was left stunned and told Main Event’s Ben Damon that the scales had been “tampered with” to help Navarrete make weight, as the Aussie said he checked his weight “20 minutes earlier” and was just under the 130-pound limit.
