Jordan De Goey has turned his back on free agency after agreeing to a new five-year deal to remain at Collingwood, according to multiple reports.
It ends a lengthy contract standoff with the club that’s made season-long headlines as the 26-year old is now locked in at the Magpies until the end of 2027.
The five-season contract reportedly includes behaviour clauses in the first two years, which had caused negotiations with Collingwood to stall as St Kilda and Essendon circled.

The Pies originally pulled their four-year offer worth $3.2 million to De Goey following his Bali exploits. The club then put the deal back on the table at season’s end and increased it to five years as the behaviour-based stipulations became the sticking point.
But with his preference always to stay in black and white, De Goey has now formalised that commitment with a five-year extension.
It’s a big boost for the Magpies in retaining the star midfielder/forward, who enjoyed a strong season including a brilliant finals series as the club surged from 17th to the top four.
The deal comes ahead of the club’s best and fairest on Friday night where De Goey is expected to poll well again following his top-five finish in last year’s count.
He averaged 20.8 disposals from 19 games in 2022 and booted 18 goals.
Collingwood coach Craig McRae said after the club’s one-point preliminary final loss to Sydney that retaining De Goey was a key priority.
“I grabbed his manager and said ‘let’s get to work on this’, because I’ve said this openly, I want Jordy at our footy club next year,” McRae told reporters post-match.
“Now I don‘t know how that’s progressing, but hopefully it’s progressing in the right direction — not because he’s Jordy De Goey, but I just think this environment is the best place for Jordy de Goey.”
