The barriers for the $15m TAB Everest have been revealed.
Hot favourite Nature Strip is looking for back-to-back wins but will have to overcome the outside barrier in Saturday’s elite 1200m sprint at Randwick.
While many say the defending champion shouldn’t be too bothered by wide draw, slot holder John Ingham admitted the team had “hoped for a bit better”.
Old sparring partner Eduardo – third in last year’s race – comes out of nine, while Masked Crusader, who is hoping to go one better after finishing 0.2L off Nature Strip in 2021, has drawn 10.
